New regular posting days: Sunday and Wednesday and, sometimes, extra ‘news flashes’!

Instead of the ‘Isis came from ……’ declaration at the bottom of the page, one is very tempted to substitute ‘Isis is returning to ……’
Look at what the hairy little toad has done to my new fence.
She didn’t tear the panel away from its staples. She didn’t mange to move the posts. She simply tore the wire mesh vertically, from bottom to top by grabbing it with her teeth and tugging. Her feet were braced against the earth, her rear close to the ground.
These wire mesh panels, believe it or not are intended for making animal pens!
Snort.
I saw her doing it but cannot imagine how she managed it. I’d had the panels for some years and wondered if they’d deteriorated. But no, however hard I tried, I couldn’t break the wire. Fortunately, she did no damage to her teeth, mouth or paws. I don’t know about podengo mix: I think she’s a b. crocodile mix.
Today I work from 11.00 until 5.00 replacing the mesh panel, fixing on the final one, erecting the second gate post and preparing timber for the top and base of the fence. This time Pest will not be allowed in the garden on her own until the job is completed.
Isis came from the Aeza cat and dog rescue and adoption centre in Aljezur, Portugal. For information about adopting an animal from the centre, contact kerry@aeza.org or www.dogwatchuk.co.uk

It is truly extraordinary how strong their teeth are!! My Josey once BENT the thick metal bars of the door to her crate enough to get out; try as I might, I couldn’t bend them back into shape even with pliers!

That’s amazing, especially when you compare our weight with Josey’s. Isis keeps sniffing the fence and giving it an experimental pat. I’m watching her like a hawk!
