No Hounds Club today as Ju. is at Crufts.

Isis is uneasy in the park. The sun keeps threatening to pop out from behind a cloud and every few minutes she glances up nervously. She would move forward if I let her stomp through the crocuses and daffodils but otherwise she will only sniff among the leaves in the shrubbery close to the car park.

After about twenty minutes we return home.

But, oh joy! Today, for the first time since the beginning of winter, it’s warm enough and dry enough for Isis to run free again in her beloved garden.

She is ecstatic and celebrates by leaping and twirling and snapping mind flies.

She trots around renewing her acquaintance with every twig and leaf. Then twirls again. Then explores some more.

It is a very long time before she stands still.

And then only for a few seconds. She doesn’t sit or lie down until I call her in almost four hours later.

All the time her tail is held high. Sometimes her tail is all I can see of her behind a clump of plants. She’s a very happy dog.
